This is from my LinkedIn live series, Ned in Your Head I ran through all 30 tips in 30 minutes, one for every year I've been selling. Here's the full replay.

THE FIRST 10 SALES TIPS

1. Don't drink anything fizzy Fizzy drinks make you burp mid-pitch and nobody buys from a burping salesperson. Order the still water.

2. Record your pitches Kobe rewatched entire games. Record a pitch and watch it back. Painful, but the fastest way to get better.

3. More is better Sales has plenty of soft skills, but the hard one always works: more calls, more emails, more posts.

4. Cut your deck in half Your deck is too long and I haven't even seen it. Halve the pages and you'll hold their attention.

5. Remember BANT No Budget, Authority, Need or Timing = no sale. The oldest qualifier in sales still works.

6. Small talk is big Start your pitch as late as possible. The small talk is where the trust actually gets built.

7. Be interested, not interesting If you can't recall three things they said, you weren't listening. Interest first — then you become interesting.

8. Let the "no" go You'll hear "no" a thousand times. It's rarely personal, it’s usually wrong product, wrong time. Move on.

9. Practise listening Selling is listening. If you spoke more than half the meeting, it wasn't a good pitch for them.

10. Customers, not competitors Jack Ma's line: focus only on your customers, and your competitors will end up worrying about you.
