Privacy Policy
Last updated: 05/05/26
Hi. Ned again.
This page exists because the law (rightly) says I have to tell you what I do with your data. I also just think it's the right thing to do. So here it is, in plain English.
If you've got a question after reading this, email me at ned@thesalesmovement.co.
1. The short version
I collect the data I need to run the business and nothing more.
I don't sell your data. Ever. To anyone.
I use a handful of trusted tools (Stripe, Squarespace, Beehiiv, etc.) to actually run the site, and they each get the bits of data they need to do their job.
You can ask me what I have on you, change it, or delete it any time.
If that's enough for you, great. If you want the details, keep reading.
2. Who's responsible for your data
That's me. Ned Phillips, trading as The Sales Movement.
For any data question, complaint, or request: ned@thesalesmovement.co.
3. What I collect and why
Different things depending on how you interact with the site.
If you just visit the site: Squarespace and Google Analytics record the basics — your IP address, what browser you're on, what pages you looked at, how you got here. This helps me see what's working and what's not. It's not tied to your name or anything personal.
If you sign up to the Saturday newsletter: Your email address. Possibly your first name if you give it. That's it. It goes to Beehiiv so I can send you the newsletter every Saturday.
If you buy something: Your name, email, billing address, and what you bought. Stripe handles your card details — I never see them and I don't store them.
If you create a course account: Your email, your password (encrypted), and your progress through the course.
If you book a 1:1 session: Your name, email, time zone, and whatever you write in the booking form. Acuity handles the scheduling.
If you fill in a contact or consulting form: Whatever you write in the form. Usually a name, email, and a message about your business.
If you click a LinkedIn ad to get here: LinkedIn tells me an ad worked, but doesn't tell me who you are personally. If you then sign up or buy, that gets connected on LinkedIn's side so I can run better ads. You can opt out of this in your LinkedIn settings.
4. The tools I use (and what they see)
I run a small operation. I rely on these companies to handle pieces of the business. Each one has its own privacy policy if you want to dig deeper.
Tool What it does What it sees Squarespace Runs the website Site analytics, account info, anything submitted through forms Stripe Processes payments Your name, email, billing address, card details Beehiiv Sends the newsletter Your email and name Acuity Books 1:1 sessions Your name, email, time zone, booking notes Google Analytics Tracks site traffic Anonymous data about pages, devices, locations LinkedIn Ads Runs ads on LinkedIn Anonymous ad performance, plus conversions if you buy after clicking
That's the full list. If I add another tool, I'll update this page.
5. Cookies
Yes, the site uses cookies. The boring functional ones (so the cart remembers what you put in it) and the analytics ones (so I can see what's working). You'll see a banner on your first visit asking what you're okay with. You can change your mind any time by clearing your cookies.
6. How long I keep your data
Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
Customers: as long as you have an account, plus 7 years after your last purchase (because tax authorities want it that way).
Contact form messages: usually about a year, unless we end up in an ongoing conversation.
Analytics data: 14 months in Google Analytics, then it's gone.
If you want me to delete something sooner, email me.
7. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask me to:
Tell you what data I have on you
Correct anything that's wrong
Delete it all (subject to point 6 — some things I have to keep for tax)
Stop emailing you (every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, or just email me)
Hand over a copy of your data
If you're in the EU or UK, GDPR gives you these rights formally. If you're elsewhere, I'll honor them anyway.
To make a request: ned@thesalesmovement.co. I'll respond within 30 days, usually faster.
If you think I'm mishandling your data and I'm not fixing it, you can complain to your local data protection authority. I'd much rather you tell me first.
8. Data going across borders
I work with people all over the world, and the tools I use are based in different countries (mostly the US). If you're in the EU or UK, this means your data sometimes leaves your region. The companies I use have the standard legal protections in place to make this okay (Standard Contractual Clauses, if you want the technical term).
9. Kids
This site is for adults running businesses or selling things. If you're under 18, please don't sign up or buy anything. If I find out a child has given me their data, I'll delete it.
10. Security
I take reasonable steps to keep your data safe. The tools I use (Stripe, Squarespace, Beehiiv) are industry-standard and handle the heavy lifting on security. No system is 100% bulletproof, but I'd never use a tool I didn't trust with my own data.
If something does go wrong — a breach, a leak, anything serious — I'll tell you, fast, and tell you what to do about it.
11. Changes to this policy
If I change this page in any meaningful way, I'll update the date at the top and let newsletter subscribers know. If you keep using the site after a change, that means you're okay with the new version.
12. Contact

I read every email.
