I’m Ned.

Apparently I'm a sales influencer.

That's what comes from doing sales for 35+ years, working in companies with 1 person to 1000s of people, from running small to big sales teams, and recently, producing a lot of content on sales.

I’m a quirky guy. I know that. Let me share a bit more about me so it all makes somewhat more sense.

Oh, and I also run. A lot.

How this relates to sales.

Sales and running have one thing in common: if you don't put the effort in, you don't get the outcome. That's a really important thing. It's actually not about the outcome; it's not about winning the races or selling lots of stuff. It's about the process of putting the effort in, making the calls, following up on leads, sending the emails, doing the meetings, and getting up early when the alarm clock rings to go running.

Top three lessons that apply to sales and running:

  1. Consistency wins. A little bit every day is better than all at once and stopping.

  2. Set high goals for yourself. It is the best way to motivate yourself to do the work.

  3. Smile or you're doing it wrong. If you're selling and running life's pretty good, so Smile which is also help you run better and sell better.

I record simple sales tips while I run and post them on my LinkedIn every week.

What it takes.
If you want to get more done, you have to put more in.
I have big running goals and big work goals.

One Friday that meant a marathon before work started at 9am.
Which meant an alarm clock at 3.30am.

Whatever you're working on; startup, career, hobby, or endurance.
Just squeeze that alarm clock a bit earlier.

That’s what it takes.
And it’s worth it.
